Injury Crash in Canterbury District

SHW1 is closed at Bankside near the Rakaia Bridge due to an injury crash involving a Milk Tanker and a utility vehicle.

Diversions are now in place for both North and Southbound traffic which involve using the Rakaia Gorge.

Unfortunately the Rakaia Gorge Bridge is one way so there are significant delays at that bridge also.

Police ask that anyone travelling through the Rakaia Area today delay expect delays and if possible delay there travel.

Police hope to have traffic moving by approximately 10.00 am
