Robbery of Grafton liquor outlet

The Police Northern Communication Centre received several calls at about 11.20 am, reporting a man running from the Park Road shops in Grafton and being chased by a woman who was bleeding from the head.

Witnesses saw the man run into Starship where he reportedly locked himself in a toilet.

He was detained by staff until police arrived.

A 17 year old man is now being spoken to by Auckland Central police in relation to a reported robbery of a liquor outlet at the shops during which the female attendant was struck over the head with a bottle in an attempt to take the till.

The woman is being treated for moderate head injuries at Auckland City Hospital.
