AUCKLAND

Karlo Mila has collaborated with visual artist Delicia Sampero to produce her second book of poetry, A Well Written Body, which is being officially launched by Huia Publishers this Friday.

The book blends both images and imaginings. The poetry touches on issues of desire and longing, identity and belonging.

Karlo will perform at the Auckland Writer's and Readers Festival on Friday May 16th in Who do you think you are? with Tusiata Avia and Kapka Kassabova.

Karlo Mila is a New Zealand-born Pasifika poet of Tongan and Pakeha descent, with ancestral connections to Samoa. Her first book of poetry Dream Fish Floating published by Huia, won the Jessie Mackay Award for Best First Book of Poetry at the 2006 Montana New Zealand Book Awards.

Delicia Sampero was born in Germany. Her work is informed by her upbringing, travel, cultural identity, motherhood and her involvement with MAU Dance Company. She has exhibited in Auckland, Wellington, Germany, Paris and Samoa and her work is represented by Oedipus Rex Gallery in Auckland.
