WHANGAREI

Taking a weekend break from a busy schedule of diving training in the East Coast of the North Island, the Navy Diving Support Vessel, HMNZS MANAWANUI, will make a port visit to Whangarei from 16 – 18 May, berthing at Port Whangarei at the Northern end of Wharf 2 (opposite the TENIX Ship Yard).

A Navy Diver from MANAWANUI will be in attendance at the Northland Careers Expo over the weekend in support of the Navy Recruiting Information Stand. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone wishing to know more about a career in the Navy, specialising as a Navy Diver, or any of the other 48 trades including apprenticeships and university schemes. There are many vacancies in all trades in the July and October 2008 intakes and January 2009.

The Commanding Officer of MANAWANUI, Lieutenant Commander Mark Longstaff (Devonport) and Executive Officer Lieutenant ‘Muzz’ Kennett (Whangarei) are delighted to announce the ship will be open for the public to visit from 1 pm to 3 pm on Sunday 18 May. Members of the public are warmly welcome to visit the ship, enjoy a tour and meet the 31 personnel onboard.
