One dead after car hits barrier

Police are currently at the scene of a fatal car crash on Northland Tunnel Road in Wellington.

At approximately 4am Sunday morning a single vehicle with 5 occupants crashed into an armco barrier on Northland Tunnel Road at the intersection with Raroa Crescent.

Of the 5 occupants in the vehicle, one male back seat passenger was killed, and 2 female back seat passengers received minor to moderate injuries.

The driver and front seat passenger were unharmed.

The age and other details relating to the dead man are not yet known.

The Police serious crash team are at the scene conducting a scene examination.
