Serious assault in Pakuranga

South Auckland CIB are investigating an assault that occurred outside Heading Home Bar n Grill in Pakuranga at about 8.00pm last night.

There were a large number of people in the area at the time, some of whom witnessed the assault have been spoken by attending Police officers.

Police are working through these statements to get a clear picture of exactly what has happened leading up to, and during, the assault.

As a result of the assault, one man is considered to be 'critically ill' in Middlemore Hospital.

Police are currently trying to locate a person who was observed leaving the scene near to the time of the assault but, so far, he has not been located. At this stage, is considered a person of interest to the enquiry.

The assault took place in the carpark which is a public area, servicing the Bar and also a number of Restaurants.

Police are seeking any people that were in the area between 7.00pm and 10.00pm last night to come forward so that they can be spoken to.
