Truck fire causes road closure

A truck & triler unit carrying a load of cardboard has caught fire on SH1/Bulli Pt, 15 minutes south of Taupo, just before 4am.

As a result SH1 is closed between TAUPO & TURANGI.

There is a detour via POIHIPI RD TAUPO onto SH 32 (WESTERN BAYS RD) then SH 41 to TURANGI.

This will remain in place until further notice.
