Aggravated Robberies in Christchurch

At about 8pm on 4/6/08 a robbery occurred at a Takeaway bar at the corner of Yaldhurst Rd and Racecourse Rd, Christchurch.

The offender has presented a knife and the shop owner has run from the building. The offender has decamped and it is not known at this stage whether anything was taken.

At about 8.40pm another robbery has occurred at the Caltex Withells Rd which is approximately 2 km from the first robbery. A weapon was also presented and an unknown amount of cash was taken.

Police Dogs tracked the offender to the suburb of Avonhead where cordons were placed and a helicopter used to assist with the search.

The offender was not located and the helicopter has now been stood down.

It has not yet been confirmed that both robberies are linked.
