Shooting in Wanganui

Wanganui police are investigating a shooting incident within the city on the evening of the 10th June 2008.

Detective Sergeant Stu Nightingale said that a 26 yr old a man was driven to Wanganui Hospital's Emergency Ward suffering from gunshot wounds at about 9.34 pm.

The wounds were considered serious and he has had to undergo emergency surgery.

Wanganui Police want to hear from anyone who was in the area of Cornfoot Street near Karewa Street between 9.30pm and 9.45pm and that may have heard shots or have witnessed any suspicious activity in that area.
