Bank Robbery, Bishopdale Christchurch

Police have cordoned part of the Bishopdale Mall in Christchurch this afternoon after a male went into the Westpac bank demanding money around 1.30pm this afternoon.

The male dropped a suspicious looking bag in the bank before leaving.

The NZDF Bomb Disposal Squad and a Customs Bomb Dog unit are assisting Police at the scene.

There have been no arrests at this time in relation to this incident and it is not yet known if any money was taken.

There is no further information available at this time. Police will issue a further release when information becomes available.
