Fatal crash near Taupo

11.45pm A fatal crash, involving a truck and a pedestrian, has forced the closure of SH1 8kms south of Taupo at Waitahanui.

Diversions are being set up at Turangi and Taupo to divert traffic around the Western Access (SH32).

A further release will be posted when an estimate for reopening the highway can be made.
