Icy Roads in Bay of Plenty

1am - Reports of icy conditions continue to be received from throughout the central North Island. The Mamakus were gritted earlier in the evening however caution is still required.

Alerts have been requested for SH30 at Tikitere, Rotorua where balck ice is reported to be developing and with the Kaiamais still closed, the Tauranga Direct route via Pyes Pa is open but also icy; the wooden bridges being especially tricky.

Motorist are advised to delay travel unless urgent and to drive to the conditions if travel is essential.
