After dominating the competition over the past few years New Zealand teams failed in their bid to retain the CP Maddern under-19 badminton teams championship, held at Geraldton, north of Perth.
Victoria (1) defeated Central New Zealand convincingly 15-1 for the title, while the two-time defending champs, Northern New Zealand (1) finished third.
The individual championship starts on Wednesday with the finals scheduled for Saturday.

Vcitoria(2) bt Northern New Zealand (2) 10-6, Victoria(1) bt Central New Zealand 15-1, Northern New Zealand (1) bt Tasmania 14-2.
