WELLINGTON

Police are advising motorists of a number of slips and surface flooding effecting roads in the lower North Island.

There is currently severe surface flooding on the Western Hutt road (SH 2) in the northbound lanes between normandale lights and normandale. Signs have been put in place.

There is a slip partially blocking the Northbound lane on State Highway 3 near Ratana (approx 20 mins South of Wanganui). Police and roading contractors are currently on their way to assess the seriousness of the slip and alert motorists.

In Wellington there has been some severe surface flooding on Grays Road near Motukaraka Point - which will result in the road being closed. Grays Road runs between S.H 58 (Paekakariki Hill Road) and State Highway 1 at Plimmerton. Contractors are currently on their way to close the road and put detours in place.

Police are urging motorists to drive to the conditions and monitor their following distances.
