Police investigate Wellington assault

Wellington Police are currently investigating an incident where a young woman was assaulted whilst travelling on the no. 44 Strathmore bound bus at approximately 8.20 pm on Thursday 10 July 2008.

As the bus stopped in Taiaroa Street, Strathmore, a male who had a young boy (approx 4 years of age) with him assaulted the young woman as he exited the bus.

The male is described as :
Polynesian
Aged approx in his late 30's
165 cm tall and of medium build
Scruffy black hair which is longer on top and undercut
Wearing rugby shorts and a multi coloured short sleeved top - also had mud on his legs

The male had previously entered the bus with the young boy at the bus stop outside the Kilbirnie Sports shop and exited it on Taiaroa Street, Strathmore. He was last seen walking down the hill towards Tukanae Street.

Wellington Police would like to hear from any one who was travelling on the bus at the time or who may be able to identify the male involved.
