AOS call out in Auckland City

An apartment block and an area around Vogel Lane in Auckland City have been cordoned off after reports that a man with a knife was on an upper-storey balcony.

Police negotiators are speaking to the man and Armed Offenders Squad members are also at the scene.

There has been widespread speculation from media as to events at the apartment block leading up to the call to police including that one or more people have been stabbed or killed.

None of this can be confirmed at this point and any definitive release will be made by Detectives at the scene once the immediate situation is resolved.

The level of interest is understandable however no further releases or updates will be able to be supplied from the Northern Communications Centre.
