Man dead after Leithfield Beach accident

A 37 year old man is dead after a four wheel drive excursion last night at Kowai River/ Leithfield Beach, North Canterbury.

Police were notified at 8.30 am that a man was missing after he failed to return from an excursion.

Search and Rescue were notified and were preparing to go out when Police were notified about 10am that the man's body had been located. Next of kin have been advised and inquiries are continuing,
