Fatal crash in Palmerston North

At approximately 2.30pm Sunday afternoon a 16 year old male was killed as a result of a motor vehicle crash on Flygers Line (between Rangitikei Line and Gillespies Lins) in Palmerston North.

Two vehicles were travelling at speed on a straight piece of road on Flygers Line heading towards Rangitikei Line at the time of the crash.

It appears that both vehicles lost control, swerving at speed to avoid a cyclist.

One of the vehicles has left the road, coming to rest in a drain.

The 16yr old fatally injured was a rear seat passenger in that vehicle. The driver of the vehicle received minor injuries. The cyclist was also uninjured.

The serious crash unit are investigating the crash.
