Arrest made relating to serious assault in Christchurch

An 18 year old man was arrested on Monday 28 July and charged with a serious assault in relation to the vicious attack which occurred on 20 July 2008 in Christchurch Central City.

He is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Tuesday 29 July.

'The injuries received by the victim were so severe that the 19 year old victim had an eye removed as a result of the attack', said Detective Sergeant John GALLAGHER.

The victim has been released from hospital and is recuperating at home.
