More chaos on NI roads due to storm

SH1 closed Manukau

SH1 is currently closed near Manukau, south of Levin after trees have fallen onto the road. Both lanes are blocked and it is hoped to have one lane open shortly.
Extreme caution is required for any motorists driving in this area.

Location of incident: Torbay

Incident type: Land Slip

A large slip has occurred in residential Torbay and a number of houses are reported to be threatened. Properties in Lingham Crescent are affected.
Police, Council and Civil Defence are in attendance and are assessing the danger before deciding if any evacuation is required.
Glamorgan Drive off East Coast Road has been closed to allow emergency services to operate.

Incident type: road closure

A large slip has blocked all lanes of SH2 at Mathorua Gorge between Napier and Wairoa. No local diversions are available and motorists are advised that this closure will be in place for some considerable time at this stage
