Below are three issues which Franklin District Council is currently managing. These issues have resulted from the recent bad weather.

Franklin District Council would like to encourage residents to be its eyes and ears in the community at this time. Council can not be everywhere and it is possible that there is either serious surface flooding or slips which Council may not be aware of. If roads are blocked and these are not signposted, or you are experiencing serious surface flooding which is threatening your house or property please call Franklin District Council – 24 hours – on 237 1300. Franklin District Council’s Customer Service Team can then lodge a service request and Council will prioritise its response.

Onewhero-Tuakau Bridge Road (known locally as Punt Hill)

* This road is currently closed to ALL traffic approx 800 metres from the intersection with State Highway 22. Local residents are being escorted through.
* Detours on both sides of the road are signposted.
* The land under the road appears to be moving, creating cracking in the road.
* Engineers are working on making this road usable.
* It is expected the road will remain closed for the remainder of the week.
* Further information and an update on the situation will be made available by Council on Monday 4 August.

Station Road, Pukekohe

* Blockages in a private system appear to be causing flooding onto the public road.
* Three surrounding properties are also affected.
* Council is managing the flooding and pumping water away from the properties and road.
* Council is also investigating the cause of the blockage and clearing it.

Puriri Ave, Kaiaua

* Localised flooding on Puriri Ave has occurred in three properties.
* The flooding is not threatening houses.
* Council is investigating the cause and location of the blockage and clearing it.

Other roads may also be down to one lane, these are signposted and being managed.

Franklin District Council is monitoring the weather and the effect which further rain could have.
