Burglary/pursuit in Wellington

A 29 year old Lower Hutt man will appear in the Wellington District Court on Friday 28 August 2008 on a number of charges following a Police pursuit on the Wellington Urban Motorway this afternoon [Thursday].
The pursuit started in Wellington after Police responded to a burglary complaint in Kelburn at approximately 3pm.
The pursuit was abandoned by Police on SH2, Ngauranga a short time later because of concerns about danger to the public from the driving of the pursued vehicle.
The vehicle involved in the pursuit was located, abandoned, in Horokiwi at 3:35pm.
The man arrested was located in bush in Horokiwi a short time after the vehicle was located.
Senior Sergeant Simon Feltham of the Wellington Tactical Policing Unit said that the arrest was the result of timely information from the public and excellent response work by Wellington Police staff.
