Fatal motor accident in South Taranaki

At about 06.45am this morning emergency services were advised by a member of the public of a car in the Stoney River about 5 k's south of Okato in South Taranaki.
The only occupant was a male who died at the scene before emergencies services arrived. It is unknown how long the car was in the river before it was noticed.
The cause of the accident is not known and is being investigated by the Serious Crash Unit.
Details of the driver will not be released until his identity is confirmed and next of kin advised.
