Rimutaka Hill Road - High Winds

 Police are urging motorists not to attempt using the Rimutaka Hill Road over the next twelve hours or so due to high winds and gusts on the Rimutaka Hill.

Gusts of up to 130 km/h have been recorded making driving conditions extremely difficult and unpredictable.
These winds are forecast to continue for some time.

Police will be monitoring the situation and will close the road if the conditions deteriorate much further.
