At about 7.30 pm on Friday the 26 October 2008 Hokitika Police were advised of a motor vehicle crash at the Mikonui River which is about 15 km South of Ross.
The crash involved a Toyota 4 wheel drive and a fully laden milk tanker.
An inital scene investigation was carried out and it appears the Toyota has failed to give way to the milk tanker which was already on the single lane bridge .
As a result the tanker and the Toyota have hit head on.
The milk tanker has crashed off the road into a paddock. The Toyota remained on the road
The 3 occupants of the Toyota and the tanker driver were taken to Greymouth hospital by ambulance and a helicopter.
Alcohol is not suspected. A full scene examination will be carried out at a latter date.
