Ute Crash in Marlborough
Blenheim Police are attending a vehicle crash in the Avon valley area of Marlborough , a rural area approximately 40kms from Blenheim.
The driver had crashed his vehicle about 10pm on Saturday the 27th of September 2008 and was discovered this morning the 28th of September 2008 at about 7.15am.
The sole occupant and driver was trapped in his vehicle down a bank, adjacent to a bridge that crosses the road near the Avon and Tummel streams.
The vehicle was near a cliff and in an unstable position. The vehicle had to be stabilized before the driver could be removed.
A rescue helicopter from Nelson was dispatched to the scene to assist Ambulance and Police staff.
The driver was found to have minor injuries, and was cold from his overnight experience. At about 8.58am the driver was flown to Wairau hospital for further treatment.
The driver is a Blenheim man aged 47 years, from Spring Creek Blenheim.
