Weather warning re driving on Canterbury roads

Methven police would like to advise motorists driving in the Methven and Ashburton areas to exercise extreme caution when driving on the roads due to high winds in the area.
Methven police have just attended an incident when a campervan was blown over by the winds about 500 meteres from the Mt Hutt skifield turn off.
4 people were in the van at the time (2 adults and 2 children) and 1 adult was taken to a local medical centre with minor injuries as a result.
The winds have also brought down powerlines and trees in the Methven and Springfield areas.
