Armed offenders squad find body of man at rural address

Armed Offenders Squad members have found the body of a man at a rural address southwest of Auckland.

Counties Manukau Police spokeswoman Ana-Mari Gates-Bowey said the man's body was found early this afternoon at an address on Whiriwhiri Road, in Waiuku, 40km southwest of Auckland.

The AOS had earlier been called to the property following reports of a possible violent attack on a woman by an armed man.

Ms Gates-Bowey said the area was cordoned off by the AOS and "a short time after they found a male body".

She said a number of people were being interviewed but nobody else was being sought and the death was not thought to be suspicious.
