Coppins enjoys Mettet Starbiker

The 22nd annual Proximus Superbiker has seen a star studded field take to the tarmac and dirt in Mettet, Belgium this weekend. Factory Yamaha Monster racer, Josh Coppins, has become a regular in the event, having competed in the last two editions and Coppins once again put in a good showing.

The Kiwi improved his times over the weekend and posted a respectable 7th place finish in the Starbiker Final. Coppins then went on finish 13th in the Super Final which matched the top Starbikers against a world class Superbiker field.

“There is a lot more depth of riders this year which made the racing even more exciting. A lot of the guys have super moto experience and it seems they come more prepared with tricked out bikes and settings. I improved with every ride and kept getting faster and faster with every race which I was pumped with. I’ll look forward to next year and will hopefully be able to get in some more practice before I take on these big names again….” smiled Coppins.

Coppins will return to NZ for the Swann Insurance International MX to be held in Taupo on 1-2 November. The MX international will mark the New Zealander’s last event for the year as he takes some time off before starting his base training for the 2009 MX GP season.
