Death in Auckland City District, 5:00pm 26 Oct 2008

The body of a 59 year old man was found this afternoon in his apartment in Day Street, Auckland City by a flatmate returning after a couple of days away. It is not yet clear whether or not his death is due to natural causes. He may have been dead for a day or two.
Auckland City Police have sealed the apartment and called a Forensic Pathologist to the scene. The Coroner has been notified, and an autopsy will be conducted early on Monday morning.
Other Police are tracing the man's associates and speaking to residents in the building. The identity of the Deceased man is known, but his next-of-kin have not yet been advised. His identity will be released when kin have been advised.
No further media statement will be made before 11 am Monday 27th October 2008.
