Fatal Fall near Arthur's Pass

ARTHUR'S PASS

Last Thursday the 23 of October 2008, Mr Noel Clyde OIEN went climbing on Mt Philistine near Arthur's Pass.
He was reported overdue today. A search and rescue helicopter located his body on Mt Philistine. It appears that he has fallen about 200 metres down the Mountain and has died as a result of injuries received in the fall.
Mr Oien was the manager of an Arthur's Pass outdoor education facility.
He had lived in the area for the past two years.
His family have been notified of the accident.
The matter has been referred to the coroner.
