Water Search off the coast of New Brighton
Search and Rescue personnel are continuing the search for one man missing off the coast of New Brighton. A search was commenced last night after two men who had been working on the sewerage outfall pipe failed to turn up at Lyttelton as scheduled at around 7.30 last night. They were in a six metre long yellow Niad.
The body of one of the men was found earlier this morning. An aerial search for the other man has had to be postponed due to poor visibility however a boat search is continuing.
The name of the deceased man is not available at this time. No further details are available at this time however we appreciate this situation is of media interest and we will update this media release as and when details become available. Media are asked to refrain from calling Police for further updates in the interim.
