Fatal Accident Foxton

A about 8:45 pm last night a fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Johnston St and Union St, Foxton.

The collision was between a North bound Kenworth truck and a Volvo car.

It is believed that the car, which was travelling west on Union st has crossed the path of the truck that was travelling north on Johnston.

There were four occupants in the car, all of which had to be cut from the car by the Fire Service before being rushed to Palmerston North Hospital.

A 75 year old woman died soon after arrival at Palmerston North hospital, two other passengers at the time of this release were in a serious condition and the fourth, the driver was being treated for moderate injuries.

The truck driver was slightly injured.

Police Serious Crash Unit is currently investigating the accident to determine the cause.
