It’s great to be home in New Zealand. It’s a short trip this time but I’ve packed a lot in. This is the first occassion my mechanic Fabio has been in New Zealand and we have worked together for 6 years so I’ve been showing him around.

Last week I visited all my friends and family and when Fabio arrived I started to ride the bike a bit to get ready for the Swann insurance international MX in Taupo. This circuit is Ben Townley’s home track. The event was great - lots of good racing and loads of spectators! I won all 3 races but had to battle with Billy Mackenzie for the most of it.

While in Taupo my cousin did the Bungy jump but Fabio and I weren’t so keen... we also did the jet boat rides and just chilled out the day before the racing, having fun.

I’m now back in my home town on the farm. Yesterday Lorenzo Rizla from Martin Honda and his wife arrived at my house so Jamie and I took them and Fabio up in a helicopter to see the Able Tasman national park. It was really nice and then we had lunch together. I’m always pumped to show visitors from Europe how beautiful NZ is.

This weekend I go to Christchurch to see a few mates I grew up with racing so I’m looking forward to that, but I leave New Zealand on Monday to head back to Europe. I’m doing my best to see all my family as much as possible and catch up with friends in the short time. It feels like all I do at the moment is eat out and drink coffee! But it’s great to catch up with everyone. I’m happy to be home but I am also looking forward to getting back to Belgium. It will be my first Winter! With the baby coming in January I can’t wait.

That’s it for now. I’m about to head off to a school and explain to the kids what MX is all about!

Cheers,

Josh
