Reports of slip covering road in Whangamoa Saddle

Police are currently responding to a slip on the Whangamoa Saddle, State Highway 6, approximately 8 kms East of Hira. Motorists have reported a 50 metre slip covering both lanes.

NZTA are organising their roading contractors to attend and clear the scene.

There are no detours in place, so motorists are urged to delay their travel plans between Havelock and Nelson - delays can be expected of a couple of hours at least at this stage.

An update on the delay will be announced once we have a clearer picture of how long it will take to re-open the road.
