Fatal train crash - New Lynn, Waitemata

This afternoon at about 1p.m, a female pedestrian was struck by an east bound passenger train at Totara Avenue, New Lynn, Auckland.

The pedestrian died at the scene. The Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating the incident and are attempting to identify the woman in order to notify the next of kin.

The deceased woman is of Asian extraction, aged between 50 and 70 years, and was wearing a floral top, light green track trousers and blue sneakers.

Police would like to hear from any person who witnessed the incident or knows of a woman fitting the description that can not be currently accounted for.
