Shooting South Wairarapa

Police are investigating a shooting which occurred at a farm in South Wairarapa this morning.

A 17 year male died as a result of a chest injury from a .22 rifle.

Initial reports indicate the shooting was accidental but police are investigating.

The scene of the incident has been cordoned off and a forensic team from Wellington will be attending the scene this afternoon.

The name of the deceased will be released when next of kin have been advised.

Police will update the media line on the police website if there are any further developments.
