PAPAKURA

Papakura Art Gallery’s popular Small Packages pre-Christmas exhibition opens on Thursday evening, and is bigger than ever.

More than 600 pieces will be on display from the opening evening on Thursday, with a range of painting, sculpture, ceramic, pottery, jewellery, glass and other art works from emerging and established artists. All exhibited art works will be for sale and all are priced under $200. Many of the works exhibited would not normally be available for under $200.

The Small Packages exhibition has always been one of the Gallery’s success stories, and Gallery Manager Emma Millyn says this year will be bigger and more popular than ever.

“There’s always an opening evening sales rush, so it’s a good idea to be there as the doors open – sales are on a first-in first-served basis.”

Rising and established artists living in the Papakura area including Vivienne Hohaia, Brian Gartside, Haihui Wang and Onlie Ong have contributed work to support the gallery and help draw attention to emerging artists who live in the District.

“Art lovers who buy pieces are able to take them away immediately. Our staff will gift wrap it ready to be put under the Christmas tree.”

Once artworks are sold they are replaced by others, meaning the exhibition is constantly changing throughout its month-long season. The Small Packages exhibition at Papakura Art Gallery in Averill Street runs from 28 November until 24 December.
