JOE BENNETT TO VISIT CHRISTCHURCH PAPER PLUS STORES FOR SPECIAL VIP NIGHTS

Following a successful event at Paper Plus Ferrymead in November, Paper Plus Tower Junction, Paper Plus Merivale and Paper Plus The Palms will be hosting VIP nights in December with special guest Joe Bennett. Chris Law from Paper Plus Tower Junction, Simon Grant from Paper Plus Merivale and Wayne Herbert from Paper Plus The Palms invite the community to attend the evening events and enjoy a glass of bubbly while talking with Joe about their favourite books.

Joe Bennett is an English-born travel writer and columnist who has adopted New Zealand as his home. He is author of titles such as A Land of Two Halves and Mustn’t Grumble. Inspiration for Joe’s latest book, Where Underpants Come From, came from the purchase of a five-pack of ‘Made in China’ underpants from his local Warehouse. Where Underpants Come From tells you all you need to know about the processes and middlemen involved and who would be profiting from such an exchange; it’s an in-depth look into the mystery of global commerce.

The store owners say the VIP events will be a celebration of great reading and a chance for the guests to chat about their favourite books while relaxing with a glass of bubbly.

Joe’s tour of Christchurch will kick off at 6.30pm on Thursday 4 December at Paper Plus Tower Junction. Tickets for the VIP night can be purchased from the store for $10, with $5 from every ticket going to Canteen.

Next, Joe will appear at Paper Plus Merivale from 6.30pm on Tuesday 9 December. Tickets are $10 from the store, which is donating half the ticket price to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Finally, Paper Plus The Palms will host the final stop on Joe’s mini-tour, from 6.30pm on Wednesday 10 December. Again, tickets are $10 from the store, and half the proceeds will go to Plunket.

Avid readers are also invited to log on to the Paper Plus website, where Paper Plus books spokesperson Kerre Woodham shares her thoughts on her preferred latest books in the Paper Plus Book Club online discussion forum. The Paper Plus Book Club gives readers the opportunity to review books they love, add comments to other reviews and receive special book offers.
