At about 1.30 pm Monday 24th November the Police were advised of a male who had been making threats in the remote rural town of Karamea, north of Westport.
Due to the nature of his threats and behavior, it was decided that specialist Police be called in to deal with him and to support the local Police constable.
Both the West Coast and Nelson Armed Offender Squads, as well as members of the Dog Section, responded and travelled to Karamea.
The male had remained within a house throughout the period and did not respond to requests to come out.
At about 9.15 pm he was apprehended and taken into custody.
He was subsequently treated by a local Doctor for minor injuries.
A 43 year old unemployed man will appear in the Greymouth District Court, Wednesday 25th November on Domestic Violence charges.
