Traffic Alcohol Group Operation in Wellington District, 6:40am 29 Nov 2008

Results from the Traffic Alcohol Group Operation on State Highway 1 at Tawa overnight:
Over 2,200 vehicles stopped and drivers breath tested.
15 drivers are facing drink drive charges.
4 drivers are facing disqualified driving and other traffic charges.
4 males were arrested for Unlawfully Takes Motorvehicle.
Police are particularly concerned with the high number of drink drivers apprehended, many from Xmas functions.
Motorists can expect more drink drive blitzs between now and the Christmas and New Year period .
