Fatal paraponting crash in Canterbury

At about 5.40pm on 2/12/08 police were advised of a paraponting crash off the Summit Road, Port Hills, Christchurch.
A male aged 44 years was attended to by emergency services but has died at the scene.
Witnesses report that after taking off the chute has collapsed and he has fallen approximately 20 metres.
It is believed that the man was doing a private jump and was not part of any group or organised event.
Police are still attempting to locate Next-of-kin.
