Injury Vehicle Crash in Canterbury District, 1:35pm 7 Dec 2008
Detective Senior Sergeant David HARVEY says that the Christchurch CIB is investigating a serious crash on the intersection of Durham and Tuam Streets at 7.30 pm on Friday 5 December 2008.
Detective Senior Sergeant HARVEY says that the offending vehicle, a stolen Subaru station wagon coloured green, had travelled from Riccarton Avenue, up Tuam Street before the crash. He asks that any witnesses who may have seen the driving of a Subaru motor vehicle around this area or witnessed the crash, contact the Christchurch Central Police on Phone 3637 874.
The Subaru vehicle had previously been reported as stolen and had been pursued by Police.
The pursuit has been referred to the IPCA.
The Subaru motor vehicle was being driven by a 18 year old male who has been admitted to Christchurch Hospital. The Subaru crashed into a vehicle driven by a 24 year old mother who was travelling with her 5 year old daughter and 21 year old partner. The mother's condition has been described as critical but stable. The 21 year and 18 year old males are in a stable condition. The child had minor injuries.
Detective Senior Sergeant HARVEY says that Police are hoping to talk to the driver of the Subaru today.
