Fatal Accident in Waikato District, 2:20am 14 Sep 2008

At approximately 02:40 hours Police and Emergency services responded to a vehicle collision on State Highway One (SH1), just south of Huntly township.

This was a head on collision involving a truck and a motor vehicle.

It is confirmed two occupants of the vehicle are deceased.

The State Highway has been closed in both directions.

Diversions are currently in place and are expected to remain that way for a couple of hours.

Northbound traffic is being diverted onto Tregoweth Lane. Drivers are advised to take care as the road is narrow and gravel for part of the way.

All southbound traffic is being diverted onto Tainui Bridge Rd and are then to follow diversions through to Ngaruawahaia
