Serious accident in Waikato District, 7:00am

A vehicle has left the road and struck a fence on SH39 Ngaruawahia. As a result of the incident the male driver appears to have sustained serious injuries.

Ambulance and Police are in attendance.

SH39 will now be closed for a period of time from Saulbrey intersection in the north to Crawford in the south.

Diversions are in place with the alternative route from the south being SH39 into Saulbrey to SH1 onto Horotiu through to Crawford and back onto SH39.

The Waikato Serious Crash Unit are investigating.
