Serious Assault in Auckland City District, 8:45pm 16 Dec 2008

Auckland Police are investigating a serious assault on a man at Point England tonight.
Shortly before 9pm police were called to a incident where a male had been attacked with a weapon described as similar to a Tomahawk.
Enquiries reveal that up to three persons may have been involved in the attack.
A 51 year old male is in Auckland Hospital with serious head and spinal injuries.
Enquiries are continuing by Auckland CIB staff
