Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Takaka

TAKAKA

Takaka Police are investigating a serious crash involving a car and a pedestrian that occurred today at approximately 6pm.
A 15 year old Takaka boy was crossing State Highway 60 near Onekaka with his sister when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west towards Collingwood. The boy was flown by rescue helicopter to Wellington Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle is co-operating with the Police investigation.
Police have no further comment at this stage.
'Police wish to remind all drivers to take every precaution during this busy time of year.' Said Constable Jonathan Davies of Takaka Police.
An update on the boy's condition will be released tomorrow.
