Residents in Midhirst are now able to access wired broadband thanks to a new cabinet installed recently.

Stratford District Mayor John Edwards says “we’re glad to see Midhirst joining Stratford, Douglas and Toko with access to high speed wired internet. Previously anyone wishing to use a fast connection would need to either come into Stratford or purchase access to a satellite connection,” John says. “It’s great to see Midhirst now has access to a fast wired connection as well.”

Internet Service Providers in Midhirst will be able to offer download speeds of up to 7.6Mbps, though this will vary depending on how far a user is from the exchange.

A plan for super-fast broadband should see some parts of the Stratford District connected to ADSL2 by June 2011. “In the meantime,” John says, “we’re glad for Midhirst to have access to broadband.”

Those interested in purchasing access to a broadband connection can contact their preferred Internet Service Provider.
