Fatal Road Crash involving Fire Appliance

At approximately 16:13 a rural fire appliance from Hicks Bay has crashed, rolling down a bank.

There were three Volunteer Fire Fighters on the appliance at the time.

One fire fighter has died, one fire fighter suffered moderate injuries and has been flown to Gisbourne Hospital, the third was not injured.

The appliance was on its way to a vehicle crash.

he name of the Fire Fighter has not been released at this stage. Emergency services are still at the scene.
