Marine Search and Rescue in Bay of Plenty District, 5:00pm

Bay of Plenty Police Marine Search and Rescue Staff(SAR), local Coast Guard Units and the Rescue Cooordination Centre (of)New Zealand (RCCNZ) are currently involved in a search for a missing boat of the coast of Maketu.

The missing boat, described as an 18ft fibreglass recreational boat has 2 adults,a teenager and two youths on board, and although it has a marine radio no contact has been made.

Currently there is a 1.5m swell in the search area, a helicopter is assisting in the search.
